This blog will cover a range of topics but will principally focus on engineering, science and technology. There will be brief excursions into research and education largely from a policy perspective. The views expressed will be personal. profserious is a tag I have used for many years. It originated in research I undertook on 'multi-user dungeons' or MUDs, early virtual environments, the forerunners of Second Life and similar. I was interested in applying MUDs to software engineering education. The tag, intended to signal my 'serious' intent when visiting the environments, stuck. The subtitle of the blog, 'serious engineering', reflects my continued serious intent - to advance research and study in engineering. I hope the blog will live up to this ambition.
